Ine is a traditional fisherman’s town. Fishermen went fishing every day from the wooden boats stored in the funaya.
In the Edo period, yellowtail and tuna were caught in Ine Bay!
It prospered as a rich fishing ground.
Because it is such a fisherman’s town, I definitely want to go to the fishing port.
This time, we would like to introduce one of the highlights unique to Ine, “Hama-sale”.
<When you go to the beach sale, please take all possible measures such as wearing a mask before visiting>
What is “Hamauri?
In the first place, “Hamauri” is a mechanism where local people can buy fish landed at the fishing port early in the morning.
A large ship departs from the Ine fishing port at sunrise (4:45 in the summer and a little later in the winter) and goes to catch fish caught in a large net with a total length of several tens of meters called a large fixed net. It is a so-called large set net fishery.
After that, the boat that finished fishing returned to Ine Bay. This time varies depending on the fishing pattern, but it will come back around 6 to 7 o’clock.
Tablets are distributed from Ine Town to each house in Ine Bay, and a notification will be broadcast about 15 minutes before returning to the port.
So, today, he tells me about the fish species caught that day, such as “7 cases of squid, a little horse mackerel”.
I am very grateful to the locals!
When a large vessel arrives at the fishing port, it uses a dedicated fish species sorter to remove the fish from the vessel. This is roughly sorted according to the size of the fish. From there, manual work by locals. We will divide it into small pieces for each fish species.
Everyone, the handling is very fast! !! !!
This is where beach sales come in.
The mechanism that allows you to purchase fish directly with the kindness of the fishing port while transferring the selected fish to the truck is called beach selling.
This is because the fish price goes up when the fish are auctioned, which is convenient for fishermen. Therefore, from Ine, we will carry it by truck to Maizuru fishing port and Miyazu fishing port for auction.
But then, the locals can’t get the fish. .. .. There is no fresh fish shop in Ine Town, so I have no choice but to go to the supermarket to buy it. It’s kind of sad even though the sea is by my side.
There is this beach sale! You can buy it directly, so you can buy the landed fish directly that day!
This system is basically for locals. But people outside the town shouldn’t buy it.
However, it is a little difficult to buy, so be careful.
All you need is your own bucket (a cooler box is better if you’re far away), boots, rubber gloves, and clothes that you can get wet. Unlike supermarkets, this is a fishing port. So please come in a fashion that you don’t mind getting dirty.
The price varies depending on the fish species, so when you buy it, divide it into individual containers for each fish species and place them on the measuring instrument.
Then, settle with cash and finish.
how was it?
This beach sale is held in various parts of the northern Tango Peninsula in Kyoto.
The fish caught in each area are also different, so it may be interesting to visit the beaches of each fishing port! ??
Please take a look when you stay at Funaya in Ine Bay.
