~ Urashima’s story ~
In July of the 22nd autumn of Emperor Yuryaku, Shimako of Mizueura, who lives in Tsutsugawa-sho, Yoza-gun, Tango, was fishing on a boat alone, but could not catch a single fish. On the third day, I gave up and tried to raise the rod, but I caught a big turtle of five colors. Shimako fell asleep while looking up in the boat, and when she woke up, the turtle became a very beautiful maiden and invited Shimako to join her in a boat to reach the land of the eternal world. The palace of the land of the eternal world is glittering, never seen or heard, and when I asked the maiden, “Are you dreaming?”, She knew that “it is the land of the eternal world and where you live with you.” Will be done.
After that, they hold hands and are guided to the maiden’s fine mansion. In front of the gate, the maiden makes Shimako wait and enters the gate with her parents’ permission. Meanwhile, in front of Shimako, seven children and eight children each come out to announce that they are goddesses. The children are mischievous, but at that time they are informed that they are Kamehime (a goddess) for the first time, and they are anxious. After that, the goddess and Shimako were allowed to be together, and became a married couple and devoted themselves to pleasure every day. However, when the goddess learned that Shimako had a desire for nostalgia, she dressed Shimako in a very beautiful garment and gave her a tamatebako containing the spirit of the goddess and told her not to open the lid of the tamatebako if she wanted to meet again. After a firm promise, he will be sent back by boat from the beach of the everlasting world. After returning to Mizue no Ura, Shimako sees the strange appearance of Komatsu, who has disappeared from his hometown. Surprisingly, I met an old woman who was doing laundry by the riverside of Tsutsugawa, and was told that there was a legend that “300 years ago, a person named Shimako did not come back to the sea.”
